Building Services

 

Building services are the dynamic elements in a static structure. They are what bring a building to life and make it habitable. They enable the provision of movement, communication, comfort, and life safety. They are unavoidable if a building is to be functional. It is essential that architects, surveyors, builders, structural engineers, planners, estate managers and all those concerned with the construction of a building have a knowledge and appreciation of building services.

Britomart Transportation Centre, Auckland, New Zealand

The Britomart station is unique in that it is the only underground rail station in the world that services diesel-powered rolling stock.  This imposed significant challenges to fire engineering, acoustics, and air quality.  The Opus/Arup team developed innovative design solutions to meet these challenges.

Telecom New Zealand

In 2001 Opus won a tender as Telecom’s preferred supplier of Building Services expertise for their national building stock. 

                                                                                   

Australian Centre for Lifelong Learning, Springfield, Australia

Opus was the hydraulic services designers for the Australian Centre for Life Long Learning development. Our scope of works included the design, documentation and construction inspections of the $80 million Education Precinct.
