Three marine structures sites near the centre of Batemans Bay on the south bank of the Clyde River are under consideration by Eurobodalla Shire Council for upgrading/renewal in order to provide improved usage and services to the community. Opus was engaged by the Council to consider and assess feasible options for the upgrading / renewal at each of the sites.
One was an existing boat ramp just upstream of the Pacific Highway Bridge over the river that has no facility for providing access on and off launched boats. Opus investigated jetty and pontoon options for this site and considered their feasibility based on environmental and layout conditions at the site.
The other two sites were existing jetties downstream of the bridge. One is in such poor condition it is not safe to access and its deck is also a lot higher than the foreshore area behind it. The third structure is currently being used by local ferries but could be subject to a renewal.
Opus undertook inspections, talked to stakeholders and Council and commissioned and considered implications of the seabed survey at the site. Opus prepared a report making recommendations for each site.
