An innovative new community centre comprising of a variety of spaces, including a playgroup space, administration community office, lounges, meeting rooms with a capacity of up to 90 people, learning centre and an activities space designed for various functions.
The design captures the cultural diversity of the local community, encourages informal social interaction and embraces an outdoor area for market and leisure activities. Setting an example for Auckland City’s Alternative Stormwater Treatment Policy, the community centre incorporates sustainable design features such as rain-gardens and storage tanks to collect and filter rainwater for reuse in toilets/showers and irrigation.
The centre is the winner of Cement and Concrete Association Design Award and an NZIA Regional Award.
