This historic 130-year-old multiple-arch bridge required widening and vertical alignment.  Its status as Historic Places Trust Category 1 dictated that the appearance be maintained.  In addition, some inherent structural weaknesses needed improvements.  The innovative solution adopted by Opus involved stripping the bridge down to the arches, strengthening and widening it with reinforced concrete, and reinstating the original stonework.  This work won several awards, testimony to the innovation, quality and practicality of the design.
