Country: New Zealand
Key Area: Transportation
Services: Transportation Planning & Engineering

The Southern Sector Strategic Transportation Study provides a strategic framework for the advance of the transport network in the Auckland region’s Southern Sector. The project’s study area is located south of Manukau City Centre, involving Franklin and Papakura District Councils as well as Manukau City Council. The study maintained compatibility with the region’s growth plans and after the evaluation phase fitted coherently with the objectives of the New Zealand Transport Strategy and Land Transport Management Act and the relevant local sector agreements.

The project included the development and evaluation of up to 10 various transportation scenarios and these were evaluated on the basis of LTMA criteria and the aspirations of the Regional Growth Strategy. These options included the identification of future road corridors and suggested supporting adjacent land use and passenger transport networks.
