Although flood protection exists on the Water of Leith and Lindsay creeks there are stretches that only have a ‘one in 20 year or less’ level of protection. The Leith Lindsay Flood Protection Scheme is the result of consultation with the Otago Regional Council, Dunedin City Council, the University of Otago and other stakeholders.
Opus brought together a wide range of professionals from a variety of disciplines, including hydraulic and structural engineers, hydrologists, landscape architects, geotechnical engineers, risk achievers, archaeologists and planners. We provided robust project management and administration, pivotal to the project’s success.
Opus worked in collaboration with the Otago Regional Council to provide a solution for the flood protection scheme. Notable technical features of the study included complex and detailed hydraulic flood modelling using Mike 11, physical scale models of the channel, a complete flood history analysis and development of landscape plans.
