To meet Albany’s growth, Western Australia’s Water Corporation is expanding on its existing sewerage infrastructure by bringing many of the remaining residences off septic tank and onto the sewer main. They are also providing a sewerage network that covers new and future residential and commercial developments.
As part of meeting this growth a second effluent storage dam has been built with a capacity of 500Ml. The earth and rock fill dam was built by JJ McDonald and Sons over a nine month construction period, which was within the contracted time frame.
Opus has been engaged by Water Corporation to provide contract management and works inspector services, which so far have been for the associated infill sewer projects, the upgrade of the capacity of the existing wastewater treatment plant and construction of the second storage dam. Opus is now continuing that same service for the delivery control valve station and pressure main which controls flows from the wastewater treatment plant to the new dam.
The final stage of the Tree Farm expansion project is to construct a chlorination plant to reduce organic matter building up in the irrigation lines, pump station and pressure main.
