Training & Support

We are committed to assisting our people to develop to their full potential.  Each year, during performance review discussions, staff work with their manager to identify a set of development opportunities along with any formal training, on the job training or work experience required to help them meet their development targets.

Development goals may be aligned to the formal requirements of a professional body (such as The Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ), the New Zealand Planning Institute, or The New Zealand Institute of Architects); or may be related to staff's personal strengths and aspirations.

To support career progression opportunities we offer:

  • Scholarships
  • Structured internal/external training programmes
  • Post-graduate study programmes
  • Mentoring
  • Technical and general management training programmes at local and international business schools
  • CPD and other such programmes

We have a Learning Academy which is our brand for all our approved training and development initiatives.
The purpose of the brand is to make high quality training and development programmes available to all our people.
The brand is a key initiative towards our value "developing our people to their full potential," this being one of our core values.

When you join Opus you will attend an Orientation Programme (for all new graduates as well as other staff new to Opus) which is held twice a year.

As well as a first-hand introduction to Opus, it is an ideal opportunity for you to start developing networks and getting to know others. Your ability to develop relationships and networks will be a key factor in your success as a consultant.

The Orientation Programme is:

“about networking, team building and getting to understand the culture and how we work together" Kevin Thompson, Chief Executive, Opus International Consultants
